| ‘Serve weak, marginalized society’, Lone asks Doctors | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 27-The 4-day long National Level Live Operative Workshop organized by Maaya Foundation Manglore (MFM) in Association with German Cleft Children Aid Society at Kimaaya Cleft Centre Al-Aziz Hospital, Khayam commenced here today. Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone was the chief guest on the occasion. Director SKIMS, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Ex- Director SKIMS Dr. Mehraj-ud-Din, President, MFM, Prof. K.S.Rao and other prominent doctors attended the workshop. Speaking on the inaugural function, the Speaker asked the organizers to launch an advanced maxillofacial surgery program in rural areas also. He urged upon the doctors to serve the people particularly from low socio-economic background born with Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate and other congenital and post traumatic maxillofacial deformities. He said that the profession is a noble one so they have to pay special attention to those who are socially and economically downtrodden. Lone, while congratulating the organizers for organizing such free advanced maxillofacial surgeries, said that such NGOs should be encouraged and assured them of every possible help from the government as health sector is a priority area. The Speaker was informed that Kimaaya Cleft Centre is a unit of MFM supported by German Cleft Children Aid Society and the Centre has started its functioning from January 1st 2008 and from past one and a half year more than 300 cases were operated in the hospital with more than 100 cases operated from during last three months. Director SKIMS and other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion.
