Amarnathji Yatra arrangements reviewed

Samba, May 27-While reviewing the arrangements being made in view of the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra at a meeting of district officers here today the District Development Commissioner, directed the Executive Engineer PHE, for making elaborate arrangements of water supply to the sites where langar for yatris are being set up in the district. He also directed for making alternate arrangement for providing water supply through water tankers in case of failure of system.
He also asked the Executive Engineer, EM&RE to keep close liaison with the Executive Engineer PHE to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all the places where the yatris will stay in the district during the pilgrimage.
SSP informed the meeting that foolproof security arrangements are being made for safe and secure stay of the devotees in the district while SSP Traffic informed that elaborate arrangements shall be made to regulate the traffic movement and parking places will be earmarked for parking of vehicles during the stay of the yatris in order to avoid traffic congestion.
Bhagat also discussed the health plan with the CMO and directed for arranging mobile ambulance for providing immediate medicare to the pilgrims. He asked for establishing a first aid centre at Chichi Mata Temple where lakhs of devotees halt for their onward journey.
Keeping in view inclement weather conditions, the DDC instructed the CEO to identify high/higher secondary school buildings for pilgrims’ stay in the district. He also constituted a committee comprising Additional DC, CEO, Additional SP, ACD and AEE, PWD (R&B), Samba to ensure that no yatri should face any inconvenience due to uncertain weather conditions.
To provide better communication facilities, the DDC asked the Director, NHIA to install signboards indicating diversions etc at the conspicuous places to avoid accidents. Besides, Fire & Emergency Services were asked to keep fire tender vehicles available at the district headquarter to meet any eventuality.
Bhagat exhorted upon all concerned departments to ensure that all logistics like tents, langars, medicare etc should be made ready well in time.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SP Samba, SSP Traffic, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer, PHE/EM&RE/PWD (R&B), ASP, ACD, Chief Planning Officer and DPO Samba.
