| Div Com lauds yeomen services of YRC volunteers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 27- Lauding the yeomen services of volunteers of Youth Red Cross Society (YRC) towards the cause of humanity, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today emphasized upon constitution of district level YRCs to give new dimensions to the purpose of the society. The Divisional Commissioner was speaking as a chief guest at the valedictory function of Youth Red Cross service week held here today. District Development Commissioner, Jammu, who is also Chairman, District Red Cross Society Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari was the guest of honour. Describing youth power as a vital instrument in serving the society, the Divisional Commissioner said that if the potential of youth fraternity is utilized through RCS like organization in extending social and humanitarian activities only then the sufferings of mankind could be eased to some extent. He asked the Society to optimize youth participation in this pious movement to meet the real objective of the organization. Dr. Kotwal complimented the program organizers and said that such programs will further boost the morale of the Youth Red Cross volunteers and encourage them to expand their sphere activities in a more logical manner. The DDC appreciated the Youth Red Cross volunteers for providing free langar and other facilities to the stranded passengers at Railway Station Jammu in collaboration with Civil Defence and NGOs. He asked these volunteers to always be prompt enough in case of any emergency or otherwise. He also exhorted upon them to create massive awareness among every section of the society about their mission so that people can avail their services. The prizes for excellence in debate and poster making completion were given to the volunteers of Polytechnic College, Jammu, Women Polytechnic College, KAWA Institute of Education, Jammu, Polytechnic College Purkhu Camp, Acharaya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences etc. Later, the Society presented mementoes to the Divisional Commissioner and District Development Commissioner. Children of Tiny Tot and other schools presented patriotic and Red Cross songs on the occasion. Among others, Vice President, J&K Bank, Madan Gupta, President Youth Red Cross Society, Mahesh Gupta, Principals of various Polytechnic Colleges of Jammu, Youth Red Cross volunteers and large number of students were present on the occasion.
