Early Times Report CHANDIGARH, Feb 23: Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, in collaboration with Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), organised an interactive outreach session at Government Model High School, Sector 41, Chandigarh, which falls within the ambit of the adopted villages Badheri and Buterla. The programme aimed at strengthening awareness about skill development and enhancing the employability quotient in the rural landscape. The first session, titled 'Skill-Based and Vocational Courses after 10th and 12th Class', was conducted by Dr. Arshdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. She apprised students of diverse vocational pathways, skill-oriented courses, and emerging career opportunities available after secondary and senior secondary education. The second session, 'Various Government Schemes and Services for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship', was addressed by Dr. Rishu, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry. She provided valuable insights into government initiatives designed to promote skill enhancement, self-employment, and entrepreneurial development among youth. An interactive quiz was also conducted after the two sessions. The activity received an overwhelming response from 91 students, reflecting their keen interest and active participation. The schoolchildren were delighted to receive stationery items distributed during the session, adding to the positive impact of the outreach initiative. Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma appreciated the initiative and stated that such outreach programmes play a vital role in bridging the gap between education and employability. She added that by guiding young students towards skill-based learning and informing them about government support mechanisms, the institution endeavours to empower them to make informed career choices and thereby, contribute meaningfully to the nation's development. |
