| Three suspected terrorists killed in encounter along border | | | JAIPUR | SEPT 24
Three suspected militants trying to sneak into India in Sriganganagar district were gunned down in an encounter by BSF jawans here today, a senior police official said. Arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, grenades and pistols were recovered from the slain persons, Superintendent of Police (Sriganganagar) Vieeta Thakur told this reporter. The suspected militants were trying to cross over to the Indian side through the Indo-Pak border, 25 kms from the Anupgarh police station, when BSF personnel engaged them in an encounter at the Shivani Post and shot them, she said. The BSF has lodged an FIR with the Anupgarh police station and handed over the bodies to the Rajasthan police, the SP said. BSF is yet to identify the slain persons, she said. Police officers from Anupgarh have rushed to the spot, she added. |
