Kathua Admin organises Recreational-cum-Medical Camp

KATHUA, Feb 27: District Administration Kathua, in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, today organised a one-day Recreational-cum-Medical Camp for senior citizens under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens here at Government Degree College for Women.
Member Legislative Assembly Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan was the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma was the guest of honour.
The programme commenced with lighting of the traditional lamp by the guests.
The College Principal, District Social Welfare Officer, faculty members, doctors, paramedical staff and a large number of senior citizens participated in the initiative.
On the occasion, 100 tracksuits and 100 umbrellas were distributed among the senior citizens by the Chief guest and the Deputy Commissioner. A film show was also organised for the recreation of elderly participants, which was widely appreciated.
A team of ISM/ AYUSH doctors conducted the health check-up and distributed free medicines among the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kathua appreciated the efforts of the District Administration for organising such welfare-oriented programmes for senior citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua informed that similar recreational and medical camps have been organised across other sub-divisions of the district to ensure the well-being of senior citizens. He emphasised that caring for the elderly is a collective responsibility of society and called for continued community support towards their welfare.
