| Rahul adjudged best in symposium | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT UDHAMPUR, MAY 28 : With a view to create awareness amongst the students about the ill effects of tobacco, Government City High School (Boys), Udhampur in collaboration with J&K Information Department, organized a symposium on the topic “Say No to Tobacco”, in the premises of the school on Thursday wherein 10 students of the school participated. 8th class student of the host school, Rahul Kumar was adjudged as best speaker while 10th class student, Rakesh Kumar came second and 8th class Subash Kumar bagged third position. Joyti Kumar and Vikash Chander, both of 9th class got consolation prizes in the symposium. Headmaster of the School, Mrs. Ram Payari while expressing her pleasure over the performance of participating students, said that they have expressed their views on tobacco menace in a very effective manner and asked students of the school to launch a vigorous campaign against the use of tobacco in any form in their vicinity as well. She called for holding more such events to make the people aware about the ill effects of tobacco. The artists of Information Department and students of the school also presented a cultural programme which was highly liked and appreciated by the audience. Later prizes were given to students. The certificates of merit were also distributed among the participants by District Information Centre, Udhampur.
