Samba, Feb 28: SPPND Government Degree College, Samba celebrated National Science Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme was organized under the guidance of the revered Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nirlape Kour, who emphasized the significance of cultivating scientific temper and innovation among students. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of lamp followed by welcome address by Assoc. Prof. Anju Bala. The Guest of Honour was the senior most faculty of the college Assoc Prof. Narayan Dutt. Assoc. Prof. Renu Rajput gave an informative talk on the life history of Sir C.V. Raman. The event aimed at promoting awareness about the relevance of science in everyday life and encouraging students to explore its practical applications. The celebration witnessed active participation from students across various semesters who presented their ideas on the theme of Everyday Science through insightful PowerPoint presentations and engaging speeches. During the presentation session, students highlighted how science plays a crucial role in daily activities — from household technologies and healthcare advancements to environmental sustainability and digital innovations. A major highlight of the celebration was a thought-provoking skit presented by the Department of Computer Applications titled “Generation AI: Artificial Minds, Real Lives.” The skit beautifully portrayed the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on the young generation, addressing both its opportunities and challenges. Through humor, dialogue, and powerful messaging, the performance encouraged the audience to reflect on responsible and ethical use of emerging technologies. The Principal, in her address, lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and students, stating that National Science Day is not merely a celebration but a reminder of the transformative power of scientific thinking. She urged students to adopt curiosity, innovation, and ethical responsibility in their academic and personal pursuits. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Narinder Sharma, reaffirming the college’s commitment to nurturing scientific awareness and holistic development among students.
