| Sham Lal meets deputations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 28 – Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma met several deputations here at summer secretariat today and heard their grievances. A delegation of Senior Citizen Pensioners Association called on the Health Minister and asked him to remove some anomalies in the recently issued SRO on the application of Sixth Pay recommendations to the pensioners. They informed of being ignored in terms of DA and other arrears. Mr. Sharma gave a patient hearing to the members of the delegation and assured to examine their grievance at appropriate quarters. Other deputations comprising of people from Akhnoor, Vijaypur and other areas of Jammu division also met the minister and highlighted the water and electricity problems of their respective areas. The minister agreed that due to drying up of seasonal rivers in Jammu region, many areas are facing shortages of power and water. He assured that the government is working on the issue and will come out with a long-term strategy to redress their problems. The functioning of summer secretariat at Jammu has given much relief to the people of the region. Different ministers are attending the summer secretariat on rotational basis and hearing the problems being faced by the people regarding the availability of basic amenities. The attempt of the government has been to make itself more accessible to the people of Jammu who they can approach it with their problems even after the darbar has shifted to Srinagar. This has also geared the divisional offices and made them more vigilant to the needs of the people.
