DDC hosts seminar on employability, career advancement

Jammu, Feb 28: Dogra Degree College (Autonomous) organized a comprehensive seminar on “Employability Skills for the Future and Career Development” in collaboration with ICT Academy. The session emphasized the importance of bridging academic learning with practical, industry-relevant competencies to strengthen career readiness. The speakers underlined that effective communication skills and a strong foundation in professional ethics are crucial for sustained career growth. They also highlighted the necessity of continuous learning and consistent upskilling to remain competitive in an ever-evolving job market. Furthermore, digital proficiency and recognized professional certifications were identified as key contributors to enhanced employability and broader career prospects.
The seminar featured eminent speakers including Dr. Ifra Nasir, Chief Secretary, GHRT; Advocate at the J&K High Court; and Panel Lawyer, DLSA Jammu; Dr. Anisa Nisar Jan, Executive Director, Varicose and More Pvt. Ltd.; and Mr. Ajaz Yousuf, Relationship Manager, ICT Academy.
Dr. Ifra Nasir emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, effective communication, legal awareness, and adaptability in today’s dynamic professional environment. She encouraged students to develop critical thinking abilities and leadership qualities to navigate competitive career landscapes. Dr. Anisa Nisar Jan shared valuable insights from her entrepreneurial journey, highlighting innovation, perseverance, and continuous skill enhancement as essential elements for sustainable professional growth. She motivated students to adopt a proactive approach towards career planning and self-development. Mr. Ajaz Yousuf outlined the role of ICT Academy in bridging the academia–industry gap through training initiatives, certification programmes, and industry partnerships. He explained the growing demand for digital proficiency and specialized credentials in enhancing employability.
The event was organized under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Bela Thakur and the Organising Committee comprising of Mr. Rakesh Mohan Koul, Programme Incharge (BBA & B.Com), and IIC Convenor Ms. Amarpreet Kour, with the objective of strengthening students’ professional competencies and aligning academic learning with industry expectations.
The seminar concluded with an engaging interactive session, reflecting the institution’s continued commitment of skill development, innovation, and career readiness among students.
