| Div Com conducts hectic tour of parking sites across Jammu city | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, MAY 28 (INFO)-With a view to ease traffic congestion on the city roads, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today conducted hectic tour of parking sites being developed by Jammu Development Authority across the city. Accompanied by Secretary, JDA, XEN JDA, Director Land Management, Jammu Development Authority, Tehsildars and other field staff, Dr. Kotwal visited Transport Nagar, Narwal and took stock of the facilities extended to the parking yard being developed with an estimated cost of Rs. 3.80 crore for the idle parking of 350 vehicles and directed the JDA authorities to make operational the 150 vehicle capacity, parking yard at the earliest by extending all facilities there and set up temporary Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) till the completion of new ISBT at Beerpur. He also exhorted upon the officers for reclamation of the encroached land adjoining Transport yard in village Channi Rama and develop it for public purpose. He also inspected the proposed site for Inter-State Bus Terminal to accommodate the buses coming from other states and pointed out that the approach roads are very narrow also the four-laning project does not provide connectivity to this terminal. At Khanpur Nagrota, he inspected the bus stand for Banihal group of buses which is ready to accommodate 300 buses of Banihal route thus easing the traffic congestion in the city. He also issued instructions to the transport authority to conduct proper trial tests before issuing the driving licenses and asked them to direct the learners for following the guidelines as laid down in traffic rules. He also sought the details of the licenses issued under light motor and commercial vehicles.
