| Indian Army organised lecutre on drug abuse at GMS Behthan, Rajouri | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Feb 28: The Indian Army organised a "Lecture on Drug Abuse" at Government Middle School (GMS) Behthan, Rajouri on 28 Feb 2026. The event was conducted under the theme "Protecting the Youth and Promoting the Welfare of Humanity." Drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking continue to pose significant challenges to societies worldwide. Drug abuse refers to the harmful or excessive use of substances for non-medical purposes, resulting in serious physical, mental and social consequences. Illicit drug trafficking involves the illegal production, distribution and sale of narcotic substances, further contributing to crime, instability and long-term harm to individuals and communities. The lecture highlighted the need for a multi-faceted and holistic approach to address these interconnected challenges. It emphasised the vital role of governments, communities, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies and individuals in prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation. The session also focused on the wide-ranging adverse impacts of drug abuse on the health and well-being of individuals, families and society at large. A total of 89 participants attended the awareness programme, including 04 teachers, 32 men, 08 women and 45 students. The interactive session encouraged open dialogue and raised awareness about the dangers of substance abuse, particularly among the youth. The students and local residents expressed sincere gratitude to the Indian Army for organising such awareness programmes on important social issues affecting the youth and people in remote areas of Rajouri district. The initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Indian Army towards community welfare and social responsibility. |
