| SVDS organizes awareness camp in Dachan village | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar, May 28- In its ongoing drive, Jammu and Kashmir Women Development Corporation through Saffron Valley Development Society organized yet another camp to educate women about the self employment avenues available in the state at Soundar area of Dachan in Kishtwar district on Thursday.
The SVDS was the first Non-Governmental Organization to reach such a far-flung area of the district which is around thirty kilometers on foot from Patimhal village. The efforts of the society were highly appreciated by the villagers who expressed complete ignorance over the employment generating schemes of the state government.
Large number of women and men including Som Nath Ex Sarpanch, Mushtaq Ahmad Numberdar, Habibullah, and Narayan Dass who were present on the occasion were educated by the society about various loaning facilities and formation of self help groups, schemes of Women Development Corporation which may go a long way in uplifting the living standard of people especially women in the area.
The participants were apprised of the loaning schemes including NMDFC, NBCFDC and NHFDC available with the Corporation. Two Self Help Groups with micro-credit facilities were also formulated on the spot.
The awareness camp was organized to create awareness among the women folk about the schemes of Woman Development Corporation and the participants were asked to avail various self employment schemes of the government, Muhammad Ibrahim Shah, general secretary of Saffron Valley Developmental Society said.
He said that WDC offers a variety of loaning facilities for the up-liftment of socio economic condition of women folk in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Hundreds of women have taken benefit of the schemes in the area in recent days and most of them were running successful business and were thus contributing to the state economy besides improving their living condition.
