| Students of GDC visit Survey of India, Jammu on National Science Day 2026 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 28: In celebration of National Science Day 2026, students from Government Degree College Nagrota visited the Survey of India, Jammu, Nagrota, to participate in an educational workshop aligned with this year's inspiring theme, "Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat." The academic visit was organized under the esteemed patronship of the Principal, Prof. Anjali Mahajan, whose continued encouragement of experiential learning and scientific exposure has strengthened the institution's commitment to academic excellence. During the workshop, the students were introduced to advanced technologies that are shaping India's geospatial landscape. Officials at the Survey of India demonstrated "Make in India" drones used in modern surveying practices, along with sophisticated survey instruments, mapping machines, and large-format printers and scanners employed in the printing and digitization of maps. The participants were also shown informative videos highlighting transformative national initiatives such as the Svamitva Scheme and the Naksha Portal, which are redefining land record management and digital mapping in India. These initiatives reflect the broader national vision of building a technologically empowered and developed India. The theme of the event, Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat, was meaningfully emphasized throughout the session. The role of women scientists and professionals in advancing India's scientific and technological growth was highlighted, inspiring students to actively contribute to the nation's progress. Approximately 45 students attended the workshop. Accompanying them were faculty members Prof. Jaspal Singh, Prof. Samina Khan, and Mr. Ashiq Parray, whose presence ensured constructive academic engagement and guidance. |
