| Anganwadi workers demand hike in salaries, regularization of services | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 28- Braving scorching heat several hundred Anganwadi workers gathered here in front of Divisional Commissioners’ office on Thursday and staged a protest demonstration to remind the state government of its previous promises to regularize their services and hike their salaries. During the demonstration the Anganwadi workers shouted slogans in support of their demands and urged the state government headed by chief minister Omar Abdullah to look in to their demands with a big heart and give justice with them. "In the past we have met several senior state government officials and even Governor of the state but we were informed that in view of the model code of conduct in vogue the hands of the state government were tied". "Today we held this demonstration to apprise the state government that the model code of conduct has been lifted after the successful conduct of polls and time has come to look into our demands in order to do justice with large number of Anganwadi workers". Several women Anganwadi workers who attended the protest demonstration said that for past several months they are urging the state government to regularize their jobs and hike the salaries of Anganwadi workers to Rs 5000 and of helpers to Rs 3000.
