Elated NC workers, supporters celebrate Farooq’s entry into Union Cabinet

Jammu, May 28- Soon after former state chief minister and President of the National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah was sworn in as cabinet minister in New Delhi on Thursday morning, large number of party workers celebrated his induction in to the union cabinet by distributing sweets and dancing to the tunes of drum beats here in Jammu.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was also present on the occasion along with his wife Payal Abdullah in the Ashoka hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan when Dr Abdullah took oath of office.
The party workers in Jammu who were glued to their TV screens reacted instantly when name of Dr Abdullah was announced after former Haryana Chief Minister Veer Bhadra Singh to take oath. Dr Abdullah, in white sheerwani and black karakauli cap, walked gracefully up to the President of India and wished her before taking oath.
In Jammu, party workers thanked Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for giving fair representation to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Party workers gathered inside Sher-e-Kashmir Bahwan and at Indira chowk and distributed sweets and danced to the tunes of drum beats. The party workers hoped that in the coming days, Dr Abdullah would be able to extend helping hand in the service of common masses after assuming office.
Meanwhile, legal cell of the National Conference also distributed sweets and celebrated the induction of Dr Farooq Abdullah in to the Union cabinet. Senior lawyers in the Jammu High Court premises distributed sweets and wished Dr Abdullah a great success in his new assignment.
