| Drug peddler arrested with heroin at special naka in Katra | | |

REASI, Mar 2: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking, District Police Reasi achieved a significant success after apprehending a drug peddler at a special Naka laid by Police Station Katra.
On 01/03/2026, a special checking Naka was established at Kadmal, Katra by a police party of PS Katra. During the checking, one person who was coming on foot from the Nomai side towards Katra was signalled to stop for routine verification.
During enquiry, he disclosed his identity as Mohd. Iqbal S/O Ghulam Hussain R/O Dhanori, Katra. Upon his personal search, 6.28 grams of heroin (Chitta)-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 66/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Katra and investigation has been initiated to unearth the backward and forward linkages involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS, reaffirmed commitment to eradicating the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the public to extend their cooperation by sharing any information related to drug peddling or substance abuse. |
