| One day FPO-Bank Interaction Programme held at Block Chassana under JKCIP | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 2: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized a one-day FPO Bank/Insurance Interaction programme here today at Chassana which was attended by the members of FPO Konsarnag Farmers Producers Cooperative Ltd. The programme was organized under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. B.N. Tripathi of SKUAST-Jammu and able guidance of Mission Director Sandeep Kumar (IFS), Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture & Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP). the programme The programme was conducted under the framework of the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement Project (JKCIP) with the objective of strengthening financial inclusion, enhancing credit linkage, and creating awareness among Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and individual farmers of the region. During the interaction, representatives from J&K Bank, Ranjeet Singh Manhas, crop insurance Dalip Singh engaged directly with FPO members and individual farmers. They provided detailed information on credit-linked schemes, institutional finance, working capital support, and loan products specifically designed for FPOs under JKCIP and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to enhance agricultural productivity, value addition, and market competitiveness in the region. Farmers actively participated in discussions on access to finance, collateral requirements, interest subvention, repayment mechanisms, and the role of banks in supporting agribusiness and allied activities. Contestent MLA Sr. Pardeep Singh has also preset. The programme was coordinated by the FPO Development Officer, Rakesh Kundal, whose efforts ensured smooth organization and effective interaction among all stakeholders. Officer from Horticulture Planning & Marketing Vijay Atri, Field Officer, Reasi shared their field-level experience, challenges and imparted the awareness of the projects under JKCIP, HADP and PMFME. Secretary of FPO Jeet Singh has aware the participants regarding the FPO and their benefits. The programme served as an effective platform for bridging the gap between financial institutions and grassroots-level farmers, while also promoting collective entrepreneurship through FPOs. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from both FPO farmers and individual farmers, reflecting the growing awareness and confidence among rural producers toward organized farming and formal banking systems. Such initiatives play a crucial role in empowering farmers economically and contributing to sustainable agricultural development in the region. |
