Ramban police recovers stolen Trax Cruiser

RAMBAN, Mar 5: Ramban Police traced and recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested two accused persons involved in the commission of the offence.
On 25/02/2026, complainant Suresh Kumar S/o Ved Raj R/o Draman, Ramban had lodged a written complaint regarding the theft of his vehicle Force Trax Cruiser bearing Registration No. JK19/1289. Accordingly, FIR No. 42/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation was immediately set into motion.
Acting swiftly, a dedicated police team headed by SHO PS Ramban under the supervision of DySP Hqtrs Ramban was constituted. The team diligently worked out the case through application of technical surveillance, CCTV footage analysis, and ground intelligence inputs and apprehended the motor vehicle lifters and recovered the stolen vehicle from their possession at Vijaypur, District Samba. Samba Police provided valuable assistance in the investigation.
The accused persons have been identified as:
Sahil Ahmed Sheikh S/o Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh R/o Srinagar
Aqib Ahmed Sheikh S/o Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh R/o Srinagar
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had tampered with the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) of the stolen vehicle and affixed a fake/forged number plate in an attempt to conceal its identity and evade detection. The stolen Force Trax Cruiser has been recovered and taken into police custody. Further investigation is underway to ascertain if the accused are involved in other similar offences.
Ramban Police reiterates its commitment to safeguarding public property and maintaining law and order. The swift recovery of the vehicle reflects the professionalism, coordination, and relentless efforts of the police team.
