MAM College Jammu celebrates International Women's Day

JAMMU, Mar 9: The CASH committee of Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu, in collaboration with NSS, celebrated International Women's Day on 9th March 2026. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal of the College, Prof. Archana Kaul. A planter was gifted to the Principal by the Convener of the CASH committee.
Dr Seema Sudan, HOD Hindi department and Convener CASH Committee, gave the welcome address, where she spoke on the theme of women empowerment. Prof Ruth K Masehi, Dr Jeevan Lal, Prof. Tarsem Lal, Dr Pallavi Bhagat and Dr Atiya Noor were also present at the event to encourage the participants.
This year, the theme of International Women's Day was "Give to gain". The cultural programme began with a soulful rendition by the student of the Music department, Dheeraj, who sang the Guru Vandana. A mesmerizing Kathak dance performance by Aashita left the audience spellbound. Nirmal from the Music department sang a Ghazal to celebrate the occasion. He was accompanied by Pawan, Andrio and Kunal, who played the musical instruments. Prof. Rajveer from the Music department also accompanied them. Gaurav Kumar, a student of 2nd semester recited a Hindi poem on women's empowerment. Rabia and Tanzeel from 4th semester recited poems in Urdu. Ashok Kumar did the proceedings in Dogri and Rabia in English.
The most awaited feature of the program was an Inter House Panel Discussion, which was held on the topic "Effective Women Empowerment in the Present Scenario".
