| No more cremations in front of Parmandal temple | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, MAY 29 (INFO)-District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mr Saurabh Bhagat today imposed restrictions on cremation in front of Purmandal temple and asked the people to perform these oblations at the cremation shed made for the purpose. This decision has been taken because this practice was badly affecting the sacred sanctity of this religious place besides causing much inconvenience to the visitors. The DDC alongwith district officers conducted an extensive tour of Purmandal and Utterbehni areas of district Samba to assess the problems of the people for their immediate redressal besides inspecting the development works being taken up by Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority for beautification and preservation of pristine glory of these holy shrines. Enroute Purmandal and Utterbehni, the DDC interacted with the people who apprised him of their demands and problems. He directed on the spot the Executive Engineer, PHE to make necessary arrangements for providing safe drinking water facilities to the inhabitants of these areas, and also asked to press into tanker services to meet water scarcity in areas where normal supply is affected so that people of the area may not suffer during the summer days. Chief Executive Officer, Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority, Mr Saujanya Sharma gave a detailed description of development activities being carried out atPurmandal for development and beautification of existing infrastructure. Mr Bhagat urged upon the localities of Purmandal to extend complete cooperation to the Development Authority so that the objective of restoring aesthetic grandeur of this destination of great religious importance.
