DAV College students visit IIT Ropar

AMRITSAR, Mar 14: A delegation of students from DAV College, Amritsar, visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar to explore the institute's vibrant innovation and startup ecosystem. The two daysvisit was conducted by Institutions Innovation council and was aimed to expose students to cutting-edge technological developments and entrepreneurial opportunities available at one of India's premier technical institutions.
During the visit, students engaged with faculty members and innovation experts at IIT Ropar's TBIF . They learned about various initiatives supporting student startups, including incubation programs, funding opportunities, and mentorship frameworks available for young entrepreneurs .
The delegation toured the research labs and incubation facilities at IIT Ropar, gaining first-hand exposure to advanced manufacturing techniques and emerging technologies . Sessions on startup-building strategies, funding mechanisms, and Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) provided students with practical knowledge about transforming ideas into viable ventures .
The Principal of DAV College, Amritsar Dr Amardeep Gupta stated, "This visit to IIT Ropar has been an eye-opening experience for our students. Exposure to such a dynamic innovation ecosystem will inspire them to think beyond traditional career paths and consider entrepreneurship as a viable option. We are grateful to IIT Ropar for this invaluable learning opportunity."
Dr Vikram Sharma who accompanied the students, added, "Interacting with experts at IIT Ropar and witnessing the startup culture firsthand will motivate our students to develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. Such industry-academia collaborations are essential for nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs."
IIC Convener Dr Manpreet Kaur informed that the college regularly facilitates visits to promote innovation and technology awareness among students to various educational institutions, reinforcing its commitment to building a robust startup ecosystem in the region .
