UDHAMPUR, May 29: Winning both boys and girls under-17 kabaddi titles, Udhampur zone excelled in the two-day inter-zonal competitions of district Udhampur held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports at Government Higher Secondary School Jaganoo, near here today.
Whereas the boys volleyball titles were shared by Tikri zone and Dudu zone in under-14 and under-17 year group respectively.
In the finals and prize distribution function, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gulzar Singh Slathia was chief guest while District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur, B N Bhat presided. Principal of host school, Bansi Lal Gupta was among others present.
The detailed results: Kabaddi boys U-17: Udhampur zone beat Panchari zone 30-13. Kabaddi U-17 girls: Udhampur zone beat Jib zone 34-18. Volleyball boys U-14: Tikri zone trounced Dudu zone 25-23, 22-25, 15-10. Volleyball boys U-17: Dudu zone outplayed Tikri zone 25-18, 25-10, 15-13.
WRESTLING: 35-40 kg: Mohd Yaqoob of Dudu zone bt Ravi Kumar of Jib zone. 40-45 kg: Kewal Kumar of Udhampur zone bt Rakesh Kumar of Dudu zone. 45-50 kg: Jeet Singh of Jib zone bt Deep Kumar of Babay zone. 50-55 kg: Rashpal Singh of Dudu zone bt Skinder Singh of Majalta zone. 55-60 kg: Lal Hussain of Babay zone bt Mohd Sharief of Udhampur zone. 60-65 kg: Karan Singh of Babay zone bt Parshotam Kumar of Dudu zone. 65-70 kg: Mohd Latif of Tikri zone bagged first place.
