| In-service training at Sainik School from June 1 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 29: A national level in-service training for teachers of all Sainik Schools of India will commence at Sainik School Nagrota from June Ist. More than 100 teaching staff of secondary and senior secondary level shall be participating in this 21-day long training covering virtually all the aspects of school education. Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Varun Sahni has consented to be the chief guest for the opening ceremony scheduled to be held at 9.30 am. Group Captain V T Parnaik, Inspecting Officer (P) Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi will be guest of honour. The 21-day training will include exclusive lectures from eminent Professors from University of Jammu, State Institute of Education and renowned personalities of the state. Prominent among visiting guests are Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. M K Bhandari, Brig. Anil Gupta, Deputy DG NCC J&K Directorate, Balwant Thakur, renowned theatre personality, Director Natrang, Dr. Ashok Vaid Prof N S Gupta, Dr. Chand Trehan, Prof Keshav Sharma, Prof SC Gupta, Prof SK Khosa, Prof SD Sharma, Prof PN Kotru, Prof Deepshikha Kotwal, Prof KV Razdan, Prof Dev Anand and Prof VK Handoo. Sainik School Nagrota is one of the 23 residential public schools governed by Sainik Schools Society under Ministry of Defence with the primary objective to contribute smart young cadets to the officer cadre of the Armed Forces through NDA. The school set a new record of sending 22 cadets to NDA from the 2009 batch besides producing more than 98 per cent results in CBSE class XII and X examinations. Large scale up-gradation of infrastructure of the school is underway which includes establishment of IT driven smart classrooms, office automation, renovated mini-stadium with floodlights, sophisticated lecture-cum-conference hall, etc. Proposal for construction of an auditorium and a swimming pool is in the final stages of approval.
