Jammu, Mar 18: The Labour Commissioner, J&K today chaired an interactive meeting with officers and representatives of various establishments to discuss licensing procedures of various departments and implementation of the New Labour Codes at Shram Bhawan, Jammu. The meeting was attended by representatives from prominent establishments of Jammu district including M/s K.C Plaza, M/s Vivanta, M/s Movie Time, M/s Compliances Walmart, M/s Geetanjali, M/s Jio (J&K), M/s Monalisa, M/s Palm Island, M/s Lords Inn, M/s TRG Group, M/s Yougal Sons, M/s Blinkit (J&K), M/s B.D. Security, M/s Petrol Pump Association, M/s Country Inn and M/s Gangyal Industrial Association. During the meeting, the Labour Commissioner sought inputs and feedback from industry representatives, HRs and General Managers regarding registration, licensing procedures, inspections and compliance mechanisms under the Labour Codes. Detailed discussions were held on simplifying processes, enhancing transparency and ensuring better coordination among various departments. The Labour Commissioner J&K has been nominated as the Nodal Officer for the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) in respect of the Labour & Employment Department. In this capacity, the Labour Commissioner will oversee overall coordination and monitoring of reform measures, including inter-departmental coordination, timely submission of reports and compliance documents, monitoring progress against prescribed timelines, and facilitating effective implementation of BRAP-related initiatives. The participants shared their suggestions and highlighted practical issues faced at the ground level, while appreciating the department’s consultative approach towards policy implementation. Among others, Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu, Shukpal Singh, JKAS; Assistant Labour Commissioner Jammu, Rupali Jasrotia, JKAS; and Assistant Labour Commissioner Central, Roopali Gandotra attended the meeting. The Labour Commissioner reiterated the department’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment while ensuring protection of workers’ rights and strengthening labour welfare mechanisms across Jammu and Kashmir. |
