The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), to be deployed at the cave shrine and other halting stations enroute, were still camping at Baltal. ''We will march towards the cave shrine as soon as we receive green signal from the authorities,'' CRPF spokesman P Thripathi said. He said all the CRPF personnel were at Baltal, where a base camp had already been established. Mr Tripathi said snow clearance operation from the Baltal route was going on war footing adding that the labourers and other enthrusted the job had crossed the Sangam. They were just few kms away from the cave shrine, he said. On the Pahalgam route, he said, a base camp had been established at Nunwan while snow clearance was also going on this track also. Camps are also being set up at different halting stations enrotue the shrine, including Sheshnag, Pisso top and Panjtherni, he said. Official sources said the holy Shivlingam in the cave shrine has been fully formed this time, which could last for entire yatra period, provided the weather remains cold in the cave periphery. About 70,000 pilgrims have already registered themselves for undertaking the yatra this year, which will end on August 5, the Rakshabandan day. However, due to accumulation of heavy snow on the track, the period of yatra was reduced from two months to 52-days this year. The yatra was to start from June 7. However, it was later decided to commence the pilgrimage from June 15.
