Before turning up in front of the Computer Sciences department the University students had a complete round of the University campus and were shouting slogans against the University Registrar and senior authorities for not taking action against him despite several complaints. The Students and the Scholars of JU are protesting against the authorities under the banner of ‘Students and Scholars Joint Action Committee’ for the last seven days due to which the University has witnessed series of strikes and interruption in the routine work. The main issues highlighted by the protesting students during these strikes were the alleged back door appointments in JU, enquiry into the alleged case of Girl student molestation by a Prof. of Directorate of Distance Education and details of the Social Infrastructure fund. The protesting students have already filed an RTI application before the JU authorities regarding almost 400 recent appointments. Though the students have been protesting for the last seven days but the JU authorities only presented a dumb ear to their demands but today’s incident made the Vice Chancellor JU to entertain a delegation of the protesting students and listen to their demands. The JU authorities till now where not available to comment on the issue.
