| Awareness programme on anti smoking day held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 30: Directorate of environment and remote sensing organized awareness programme on the eve of ‘anti smoking’ day in collaboration with New Modern College of Education, Sainik Colony, here today while Prof. Uma Sharma, vice president Pitanjali “Yog Samiti” was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, she stressed that yogic breathing exercises can help a lot in “quiting smoking”. The chairman Tarun Behl who was the guest of honour welcomed the dignitaries laid stress on ‘No Smoking’ asked the young generation to stay away from this deadly poison. A debate competition was also organized on this occasion in which the college students took part and certificates were given to the participants. R.C. Sharma in his speech emphasized on the hazards of smoking and laid stress on the need of strengthening the pillars of the nation i.e. the youth. He further highlighted the defects of cigarette smoking which are of great danger to our society. An Eco-Club was inaugurated in the college premises by the dept. of environmental and prizes were distributed among the participants, beside publicity material was also distributed to the students and audience by the dept.
