JAMMU, Mar 27: GGM Science College, Jammu (LSC-12133), successfully organized a highly engaging and impactful Induction Meet Programme for the January 2026 learners' batch of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), marking a significant beginning for students embarking on their academic journey through the Open and Distance Learning system. The programme witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 150 learners from various districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir participating with great enthusiasm. framework and learner-centric approach.The occasion was graced by Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, IGNOU, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with a thought-provoking welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of GGM Science College, Jammu. In his address, he underscored the transformative power of education and motivated the learners to embrace IGNOU's flexible learning system as a means to achieve both academic excellence and professional growth.Dr. P. S. Thakur, Coordinator of LSC-12133, provided a comprehensive overview of the Learner Support Centre, highlighting its academic support services, student facilitation mechanisms, and digital learning platforms.
Delivering the keynote address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, inspired the students with his insightful interaction and detailed explanation of IGNOU's academic structure, credit system, and flexibility that empowers learners from diverse backgrounds. He encouraged students to adopt a disciplined and proactive approach towards their studies and to fully utilize the vast academic resources provided by the University.Dr. Asha Upadhayay, Deputy Regional Director, actively engaged with the learners by addressing their queries with clarity and precision, thereby instilling confidence and a clear understanding of academic processes among the new entrants.
The programme was seamlessly coordinated by Prof. Vishal Sharma,whose efficient management ensured smooth conduct of all sessions. Adding further value to the programme, Dr. Maqeem Ansari, Assistant Coordinator, along with Prof. Sanjay Kumar and Prof. Rohit Bhardwaj, shared their perspectives and encouraged students to remain committed, focused, and consistent in their academic pursuits.
The induction programme not only familiarized the learners with the operational aspects of IGNOU but also created an inspiring academic environment, fostering motivation, confidence, and a sense of belonging among the participants.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Vishal Sharma, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and contribution towards making the event a grand success.
