Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 27: FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Chapter, under the leadership of Chairperson Aarti Chowdhary, felicitated Sushma Devi of Sharda Nari Shakti Self-Help Group for her remarkable achievement in being honoured under the MSME category of SHGs at the prestigious FICCI FLO National MSME Awards held in New Delhi, organised by FICCI FLO Headquarters. These prestigious awards are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the remarkable contributions of women-led MSMEs across India, making it a moment of immense pride for Jammu & Kashmir that one of its women entrepreneurs, supported and nurtured by the chapter, was selected at a national level.
The award, originally conferred in New Delhi by Poonam Sharma, National President, FICCI FLO, along with Minister Jitin Prasada, could not be received in person by Sushma Devi due to her inability to travel. In recognition of her outstanding contribution, the FICCI FLO J&K-Ladakh Chapter formally presented the award to her today in Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Aarti Chowdhary highlighted the chapter's consistent efforts in hand-holding and empowering Self-Help Groups across the region. She noted that FICCI FLO J&K-Ladakh has been working closely with grassroots women through capacity building, skilling initiatives, and market linkages, enabling them to evolve into confident entrepreneurs and contributors to the local economy.
Sushma Devi's journey stands as a powerful example of resilience, leadership, and enterprise. Coming from humble beginnings, she has emerged as a key force in strengthening women-led livelihoods in the region. As the Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir Dairy Federation Limited and a driving force behind Kaushal Jammu Milk Producers Company Limited, she is currently leading and supporting hundreds of Self-Help Groups in the Muthi block of Jammu. Under her leadership, the enterprise has achieved an impressive turnover of approximately Rs 1.2 crore within just five years.
Her contributions to women's empowerment and grassroots entrepreneurship have earned her several prestigious accolades over the years, including a State Award from the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, the Women Empowerment Award (2023), the Dr. Nirmala Deshpande Award (2024), and the Dogra Ratan Award (2024). She was also recognised as a FICCI FLO Trailblazer in 2024.
FICCI FLO J&K-Ladakh takes immense pride in celebrating such inspiring women leaders who embody the spirit of transformation and community-led growth. The chapter remains committed to strengthening Self-Help Groups and Farmer Producer Organisations through sustained mentorship, institutional linkages, and opportunities that translate skills into sustainable livelihoods.
