Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Mar 30: Udhampur Police today inaugurated the Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma Memorial Sports Tournament at Government Degree College (Boys) Udhampur to pay tribute to the martyr of J&K Police. The tournament was declared open by Addl. SP Udhampur Sh. Sandeep Bhat along with DySP DAR DPL Lines Sh. Jatinder Singh Sambyal in the presence of other officers & officials. While addressing the gathering, Addl. SP Udhampur emphasized the importance of sports in shaping the youth, stating that sports activities help channelize energy in a positive direction, promote physical and mental fitness and keep youth away from social evils such as drug abuse. Six teams from District Udhampur are participating in the tournament. Various sports events including Cricket, Badminton, Volleyball, Kho-Kho and Tug of War will be played during the competition. The inaugural cricket match was played between Garnai Cricket Club and Udhampur Cricket Club witnessed by a large number of spectators and local youth who appreciated the initiative of Udhampur Police to promote sports culture among the youth. |
