Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 30: The 18th SEED Workshop and CME on Airway Management, organized by the Airway Management Foundation (AMF), was successfully conducted by the Department of Anaesthesiology at AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, on 28th-29th March, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu. The program was held under the expert supervision of AMF office bearers Dr. Rakesh Kumar (President), Dr. Sunil Kumar (Secretary), and Dr. Shakti Dutt Sharma (Treasurer). The event was graced by the esteemed Guests of Honour, Dr. Sujata Choudhary, Additional DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Dr. Kavita Sharma, Director, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital. The organizing committee included Dr. Sunana Gupta (Organising Chairperson), Dr. Shruti Sharma (Co-Organising Chairperson), Dr. Raksha Kundal (Organising Secretary), along with Dr. Kanika Gupta, Dr. Sandeepika Dogra, Dr. Slomi Gupta, and Dr. Aleesha Gupta. The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and practical skills in airway management. The academic program comprised nine focused sessions covering essential areas such as Airway anatomy, Airway assessment, Oxygenation strategies, use of Supraglottic airway devices (SGADs), Videolaryngoscopy, Airway topicalization, Flexible fiberscope intubation, and Front of Neck Access (FONA) techniques. Special emphasis was also laid on the importance and wider availability of videolaryngoscopy and supraglottic airway devices in improving airway management practices. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, residents, postgraduate students, interns, and practicing doctors from various institutions including GMC Jammu, GMC Kathua, GMC Udhampur, GMC Rajouri, ASCOMS, SMVDIME, ESI Hospital, as well as senior consultants from the health department. Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS Jammu, underscored the critical importance of effective airway management in both routine and emergency settings. He highlighted that such workshops serve as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, skill development, and hands-on training, ultimately leading to improved patient care and better clinical outcomes. Prof (Dr) Meeta Gupta, Dean Academics, also emphasized the vital role of airway management in disaster preparedness and management. The workshop concluded successfully and with positive feedback from participants. Such academic initiatives reaffirm AIIMS Jammu's commitment to advancing clinical excellence, strengthening capacity building, and promoting patient quality and safety. |
