Early Times Report REASI, Mar 30: In a continued offensive against narcotics and to ensure a drug-free society, District Police Reasi achieved another success when a special naka was laid at Jiji Chowk, Katra. During the naka checking, one person identified as Divyansh Sharma S/O Vipin Sharma R/O Tea Garden, Katra was intercepted for routine checking. Upon his personal search, the police team recovered 3 grams of heroin (Chitta-like substance) from his possession. Taking swift action, FIR No. 86/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify potential links in the supply chain. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh-JKPS remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs and urges citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from narcotics. The public is also requested to share any information about drug peddling activities with the police to help make the district drug-free.
