Major crackdown on narcotics: Reasi police register four NDPS cases, four drug peddlers arrested

REASI, Mar 30: In a major offensive a tion against drug trafficking, District Police Reasi has achieved significant success with four back-to-back recoveries of heroin and registration of four FIRs under the NDPS Act at Police Station Reasi.
Displaying exceptional vigilance and operational efficiency, Police Station reasi achieved a major breakthrough in the ongoing drive against drug trafficking. Acting with alertness and precision, four teams were created who successfully apprehended four drug peddlers from different locations and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances. The details of the cases are as follows:
Case 1
On 29.03.2026, a team of Police Station Reasi during naka checking near IRP Chowk
apprehended:
Accused: Pushpinder Singh @ Badar S/O Janak Singh R/O Geeta Nagar, Reasi
Recovery: 5.10 grams of heroin (chitta)-like substance
FIR Registered: No. 47/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at P/S Reasi
Case 2
A police party of Police Post Talwara, during naka duty on Baradari Bridge-Reasi link road, intercepted:
Accused: Sudarshan Singh S/O Sundar Singh @ Vishal R/O Palapadi, Reasi (A/P Trintha)
Recovery: 6.730 grams of heroin-like substance
FIR Registered: No. 50/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at PS Reasi
Case 3
A naka laid by Police Post Dera Baba near Krishi Vigyan Kendra led to the apprehension of:
Accused: Manik Thakur S/o Chain Singh R/o Didi Bhangal, Katra
Recovery: 2.55 grams of heroin-like substance
FIR Registered: No. 49/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at P/S Reasi
Case 4
A team of Police Post Jyotipuram, during naka /patrolling at Kacharyan (Jyotipuram), intercepted a Ford Figo (JK02BD-9558). The driver attempted to flee but was overpowered:
Accused: Mohd Hazam S/o Mohd Maqbool R/o Nomal, Tehsil Thakrakote, District Reasi
Recovery: 2.77 grams of heroin-like substance
FIR Registered: No. 48/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25 NDPS Act at P/S Reasi.
Accused has been arrested; further investigation is underway.
All the operations were carried out under the leadership of SHO Police Station Reasi, Insp. Khyatimaan Khajuria, under the overall supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs. ReasiVishal Singh jamwal and Addl. SP Reasi Iftkhar Ahmed-JKPS.
SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh - JKPS, appreciated the proactive efforts of all police teams, reiterating that Reasi Police is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. He urged citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from narcotics and encouraged the public to share information about drug peddling to help cleanse society of this menace.
District Police Reasi remains steadfast in its mission to make the district drug-free.
