| Tankers to supply water in Samba | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, MAY 30 (INFO)- District Development Commissioner, Samba Mr. Saurabh Bhagat today directed the PHE authorities to divert Nandani and Rakha Batali tube well water supply (2 lakh gallons per day) besides supplementing tanker services to various mandies of Samba town to meet acute water scarcity prevalent in the area. In this regard, the DDC today convened a meeting of prominent citizens of Samba town and PHE authorities to work out strategies for ensuring adequate drinking water facilities to the town and surrounding localities. Responding to the demands of the locals, the DDC asked the Executive Engineer, PHE Division, Samba to engage sufficient water tankers so that inhabitants do not face water shortage that too in these hot summer days. The DDC also directed the AEE’s to establish control rooms at conspicuous places and remain available to monitor the water supply scenario and to receive and redress the public grievances regarding the facility. He cautioned the officers not to leave their station without prior permission from the higher authorities. Mr. Bhagat also instructed the other staff deployed in the operation of water supply machinery to ensure that no equipment is manhandled or carelessly used and regular water supply is provided to the people despite scorching heat and depletion of perennial flow of water in the Basanter River.
