Early Times Report
GANDERBAL, Apr 3: Jammu Kashmir United Movement president and Former MLA of Ganderbal, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, on Friday welcomed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's directive ordering a magisterial probe into the recent encounter in Arhama area of Ganderbal district. Expressing faith in the investigative process, Jabbar said the move would help establish facts and ensure transparency. Mr Jabbar visited the bereaved family of Ab Rashid Mughal, a resident of Chountwaliwar who was killed during the Arhama encounter. Accompanied by the grieving family, Jabbar met with the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, demanding the immediate return of the body and a time-bound magisterial inquiry into the incident. "The family has been through immense trauma. A swift, time-bound probe and the respectful handover of the body are their basic rights," Jabbar told reporters after the meeting.
Officials assured that necessary action would be taken in accordance with laid-down procedures.
