BANIHAL, Apr 8: On 21-03-2026, a police party from Police Post Neel was deputed on routine patrolling duty. During patrolling, when the team reached near Gaguni Neel Market they found four individuals creating nuisance in an intoxicated condition, thereby causing inconvenience to the general public and partially obstructing the smooth flow of traffic.
Acting promptly, the police party intervened and apprehended the individuals. During enquiry, they disclosed their identities as, 1. Amir Ahmed Khan S/o Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, R/o Zanihal, Banihal, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban 2. Mubashar Ahmed S/o Faiz Ahmed, R/o Zanihal, Banihal, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban,3. Aqil Hussain Rather S/o Ghulam Hussain Rather, R/o Ashar, Banihal, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban,4. Jahangir Ahmed S/o Fareed Ahmed Lone, R/o Zanihal, Banihal, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban
Subsequently, the individuals were taken into custody and subjected to medical examination at PHC Ukhral, which confirmed that they were under the influence of alcohol. A non-cognizable report was entered in the General Diary of Police Post Neel. After completing necessary legal formalities, the individuals were released. Thereafter, an application was forwarded to the Hon'ble Court of JMIC Ukhral for obtaining permission to investigate the matter under Section 355 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as required under law. Upon receiving permission from the Hon'ble Court, the investigation was conducted and separate istigasa(s) were produced before the Hon'ble Court of JMIC Ukhral for further legal proceedings.
On 07-04-2026, the Hon'ble Court of JMIC Ukhral convicted the above-mentioned offenders and sentenced them to undergo community service for three days at SDH Banihal.
Ramban Police reiterates its commitment to maintaining public order and urges citizens to refrain from indulging in activities that disturb peace and public convenience.
