| Tributes paid to Bhagat Amarnath | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, June 1: All India confederation of SC/ ST/OBC organizations, J&K unit commemorated 39th death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Amar Nath ji here today 2009. A large number of members apart from distinguished guests which included Ashok Attri SSP and R.K. Verma R.T.O paid their homage by garlanding the portrait of the great leader. It was unanimously resolved by the participants that they will call upon the govt. of the state to install a statute of Bhagat Amar Nath ji at Jammu as a mark of respect to the great leader for his contribution for the upliftment of downtrodden. A paper reading session was held in which the participants threw light on life and mission of Bhagat Amar Nath ji who sacrificed his precious life on 1st on June 1970 in Karan park in front of civil secretariat, Jammu by resorting to ‘Hunger Strike’ on 23rd May 1970 for implementation of reservation in the state when the govt. of the state failed to provide reservation even after 22 long years had elapsed since independence.
