| Mother-son duo booked for torture, demand of dowry | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Bhaderwah, June 01 : A man along with his mother was booked by the police for allegedly subjecting his newly weeded wife to brutality for brining fewer dowries in Bhaderwah area of Doda district on Monday. Akshay Mala D/o Prem Ji Sharma was admitted to district hospital Bhaderwah with minor burn injuries and torture marks over her body, which led to a protest demonstration by the local residents, who also attacked and ransked the house of her in-laws. Officials told that the woman was married to her neighbourer Rajeev Gupta son of Rajinder Gupta on May 7, 2009. The relationship between the couple reportedly deteriorated within few days of the marriage as the woman was allegedly being harassed and tortured for brining fewer dowries. Akshay was shifted to the hospital with bruses and burn marks on her face by her parents to the district hospital this morning. The victim told the police that she was severely tortured by her husband and mother-in-law, As the news spread in the locality a large number of people staged a protest demonstration and attacked the house of Rajinder. The angry porters smashed window panes of the house and ransked its furniture. Police swung into action and registered a case against the mother-son duo, who was said to be absconding till the last report came in.
