Early Times Report
DODA, Apr 15: Continuing its sustained and relentless drive against drug trafficking, Doda Police achieved significant success by apprehending three drug peddlers in two separate operations and recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances.
In the first operation, a docket was received at Police Station Gandoh through a special messenger from Police Post Kahara, reporting that a police team, during naka checking at Domail Kahara, had apprehended a suspicious individual.
During checking, the accused identified as Mohd Sarwar S/o Ghulam Rasool R/o Bani Trankhal, Tehsil Kahara, who was proceeding from Kahara market towards Piyakul, was subjected to search. During the search, approximately 450 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the contraband, prima facie indicating his involvement in illegal drug trafficking.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 39/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gandoh, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
In another operation, Doda Police, during routine naka checking near Ganpat Bridge under the jurisdiction of Police Station Doda, intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Yasir Ahmed Shah S/o Abdul Majeed R/o Sadeqabad, Doda and Abu Mubbasir S/o Mohd Ashraf R/o Akrambad, Doda.
Upon their personal search, 6.20 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of Yasir Ahmed Shah, while 5.12 grams of heroin was recovered from Abu Mubbasir. Both accused were immediately taken into custody on the spot.
Preliminary verification revealed that both accused are habitual offenders, previously involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act as well as theft-related offences.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 86/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation has been taken up.
Doda Police reiterates its firm commitment to curb the menace of drugs and appeals to the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug trafficking.
