| Prof Sahni declares open in-service training at Sainik School | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 01: JAMMU, June 01: Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Varun Sahni today inaugurated the 21-day In-service Training for teachers at Sainik School Nagrota, near here. In his inaugural address to over 100 teachers from 23 Sainik Schools across the country, Prof Sahni said, “There is an organic link between school and the Nation. So, education and defence are two state responsibilities, wherein Sainik Schools are performing their job tremendously well and so are the teachers”. He advised teachers to make their own statement of programme in which they must define, what the student expect to know and able to do after they finish their programme. “Special teacher is he, who teaches in a special way. Successful teacher have competitive teaching pedagogy, content, quartile, assessments and co curriculum,” said Prof Sahni. He also answered to the questions of the audience. Guest of honour, Group Captain VT Parnaik, Inspecting Officer, Sainik School Society, Ministry of Defence, in his address to the teachers, praised the academic results in the recent exams and entrance of Sainik School cadets in to National Defence Academy (NDA). He deliberated on challenges in improving CBSE and NDA results in Sainik Schools while bringing out the first hand experience of various factors responsible for obtaining excellence in results. Earlier, in his welcome address Principal, Group Captain, Ajay Kumar welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished personalities present in the inaugural function. He emphasized the need of regular training and development for the teaching fraternity of Sainik Schools for better CBSE, and UPSC National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examinations. “Training is not only mandatory for promotion of the teachers but also provide a platform to develop them professionally for producing better results,” said the Principal adding that School has put in lot of hard work to make the training useful as well as enjoyable. During the 21-day long training, eminent and experienced professors from JU, State Institute of Education, medical experts, theatre personalities and adolescence counselors will deliver very informative and educative lectures. Experts from Bharathiya Yoga Sansthan will conduct regular early morning Yoga session to familiarize teachers with basic yoga concepts and exercise. Besides a couple of recreational trips to adjacent places of interest on weekends for the teachers, the school has also planed a book exhibition on June 19 in which leading publishers from Jammu and Delhi will exhibit latest publications. Dr. KK Handoo, who is the chief coordinator for the in-service course was the master of ceremony, conducted the inaugural ceremony. Headmaster of the school, Lt. Col. Krishan Yadav proposed the vote of thanks.
