Early Times Report
BANDIPORA, Apr 16: Demonstrating the District Administration's commitment to combating substance abuse, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib led a large-scale Cross Country Run, jointly organized by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K, and the District Administration Bandipora, as part of the ongoing 100 day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan campaign.
The high-energy run, which commenced from Shokababa and concluded at the Mini Secretariat, brought together students and youth from across district institutions, underscoring the community's collective commitment to a healthier, drug-free future. Hundreds of enthusiastic participants traversed the route in the early morning hours, their participation a powerful statement against substance abuse and in favour of sports-based youth engagement.
"Initiatives like this are vital in channelizing the energy and aspirations of our young people towards positive, constructive pathways," the Deputy Commissioner remarked during the event. "We aim to demonstrate that a fit, healthy lifestyle, anchored in sports and wellness, is the most effective counter-narrative to drug abuse", she added.
The Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, a flagship Government of India Campaign, has been instrumental in raising awareness about the health and social consequences of narcotics. Today's run exemplified how sporting events can serve as powerful platforms for public health messaging while building community resilience.
The District Youth Services & Sports Officer and other senior officials were present throughout the event, witnessing the district's youth galvanize around this critical public health priority.
The District Administration has committed to sustaining such programmes throughout the year, ensuring that awareness, fitness, and prevention remain at the forefront of youth engagement across Bandipora.
