Doda police booked notorious drug peddler under PIT- NDPS Act; lodged in District Jail Udhampur

DODA, Apr 17: In a significant move to combat drug trafficking and address the growing narcotics issue within the district, Doda Police has successfully apprehended and booked notorious drug peddler Mehraj Din, son of Abdul Latief, a resident of Masjid Mohalla, Tehsil Bhaderwah. This action falls under the stringent provisions of the PIT-NDPS Act.
Mehraj Din has a documented history of involvement in multiple NDPS cases, continuously engaging in illicit narcotics activities. His criminal record includes various FIRs filed at different police stations, highlighting his persistent drug-related offenses:
- FIR No. 270/2011 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (P/S Doda)
- FIR No. 16/2012 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (P/S Assar)
- FIR No. 201/2014 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (P/S Bhaderwah)
- FIR No. 275/2019 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (P/S Bahu Fort, Jammu)
- FIR No. 07/2024 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act (P/S Bhaderwah)
- FIR No. 125/2025 u/s 8/22 NDPS Act (P/S Bhaderwah)
Preventive detention proceedings were initiated based on a comprehensive dossier prepared by the Station House Officer of Police Station Bhaderwah, which meticulously outlined the accused's ongoing involvement in drug trafficking. Following this preparation, Mehraj Din was detained under Order No. PITNDPS 09 of 2026, issued by the Office of the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, dated March 6, 2026.
On April 17, 2026, the accused was lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
Doda Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to eradicating drug-related offenses and warns all individuals involved in narcotics activities that stringent legal actions, including preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act, will be enforced without exception.
