Early Times Report
LUCKNOW, Apr 18: The capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, has achieved a significant milestone in the field of solar energy by securing the top position in solar installations nationwide. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ongoing campaign for rooftop solar energy under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has made Lucknow a national leader.
According to Indrajeet Singh, Director of the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency, more than 87,000 rooftop solar plants have been installed in Lucknow so far under the scheme, the highest in any district in the country. He added, "By April 15, 3,133 rooftop solar plants had been installed in Lucknow alone. This achievement makes Lucknow the leading district in the country in adopting solar energy."
Experts say that electricity consumption has increased significantly in urban areas due to the growing use of induction cooktops instead of gas and the rising demand for electric vehicles.
Along with this, the desire to control rising electricity bills and increased awareness about environmental protection have encouraged people to adopt solar energy rapidly. Rooftop solar systems are providing long-term financial benefits to consumers and making them self-reliant in energy.
