Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 21: Under the able guidance and visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Archana Kaul, the Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the NCORD/College Wellness Committee, organized a Drug Awareness Session under the 100 Days Campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Tarsem Lal, who welcomed the guests, faculty members, and students, and highlighted the importance of collective efforts in creating a healthy and drug-free academic environment. As part of the 100 Days Campaign of NMBA, the awareness programme was organized with the objective of sensitizing students and staff about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of building a drug-free society. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The highlight of the programme was an informative lecture delivered by Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Incharge NCORD/NMBA. In his address, he elaborated on the vision and objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and emphasized the crucial role of youth in combating drug abuse. Dr. Kumar explained the meaning and objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and discussed the major causes leading youth towards substance abuse. He highlighted the harmful physical, psychological, and social effects of drugs, along with early warning signs and behavioural indicators of addiction. He emphasized the importance of peer support, positive friendships, and the role of family, teachers, and educational institutions in prevention. The lecture also focused on stress management, emotional well-being, and healthy coping strategies as effective safeguards against addiction. Further, he informed the participants about the legal consequences associated with possession and trafficking of narcotic substances and stressed the importance of counselling, rehabilitation, and timely intervention. He urged students to act as ambassadors of awareness in society and underscored the need for sustained campaigns, community participation, and collective responsibility in building a drug-free nation. |
