Peace peddler meet Governor

SRINAGAR, JUNE 2 – A man on a bicycle from Maharashtra, Mr. Bhausaheb Bhawar, on a mission to spread the message of peace and brotherhood as well as creating awareness against female foeticide and dowry, called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, here today.
Mr. Bhawar, 37 years, currently in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 5 days, has so far cycled across Jammu Division. After visiting various parts of the Kashmir valley, including Baramulla, Uri and Kupwara for a month, he proposes to proceed to Kargil and Leh districts on his bicycle.
Presenting the details of his mission to the Governor, Mr. Bhawar said that during the first phase of his cycling expedition from 1993 to 2006, and in the second phase from January 2007 till date, he has pedaled across all the states of the country four times, touching almost every major town and village, covering a distance of about two lakh kilometers on bicycle and interacting with thousands of people.
He said that it is his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir, as he had visited the State earlier also in 1997, to spread the message of peace and brotherhood.
Mr. Bhawar said that after completion of his current cycling expedition within the country over the next six months, he is contemplating to embark on a world peace tour on bicycle, which will take him 20 years to pedal across the globe. He said that he also plans to write a book about his experiences after completion of the world tour.
The Governor appreciated the initiative of Mr. Bhawar and wished him all success in his mission.
Mr. Bhawar, who belongs to Hasnabad village in Jalna district of Maharashtra, has so far changed eight cycles during his country-wide expedition.
