| Jora writes to Selja, Patel for tourism support | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 02- In view of the ensuing Shri Amar Nath ji yatra, the Transport Commissioner has fixed fares of mini-buses, taxis and maxi-cabs for transportation of yatris. According to the order, the fare for mini-buses from Nunwan to Chandanwari will be Rs. 60 per passenger while the charges of taxi (petrol) for the same route and from Sonamarg to Baltal will be Rs. 147 per passenger. The fare of Tata Sumo has been fixed at Rs. 72 per passenger from Nunwan to Chandanwari and from Sonamarg to Baltal. The order makes it clear that the fares in respect of other routes shall be chargeable in accordance with notification issued on 21-07-2008. The concerned enforcement agencies of Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and Traffic Department have been asked to ensure strict enforcement of the fare fixed during the yatra period. Meanwhile Jora called upon the Union Minister for Tourism to provide all out support to J&K state for boosting tourism, which is the mainstay of the State’s economy. In a message, the J&K Tourism Minister while congratulating Ms. Kumari Selja for her re-induction in the Union Council of Minister has hoped that the state would get special consideration and financial support in the completion of left over projects and programmes undertaken in the tourism sector, adding that the Centre has all along helped the state in the promotion of tourism and related infrastructure. “Establishment of a large number of Tourism Development Authorities is one such step which has helped the state greatly in development of tourism sector,” Mr. Jora emphasised. Mr. Jora also invited the Union Minister to visit Kashmir and also perform the annual yatra of the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji in the middle of this month.
