The Committee will also ascertain what is the sanctioned intake capacity of the College for each course as per the approval of the government/AICTE. The Committee shall submit its report to the government within a period of four weeks from the date of issue of this order. According to an order issued by the General Administration Department here today, the Committee will comprise Commissioner/Secretaries of GAD, Higher and Technical Education and ARI and Trainings Departments and Chairman, J&K Board of Professional Examinations. The other terms of reference of the Committee include ascertaining whether the college has given admission beyond the sanctioned intake capacity during 2008-09 as well as find out whether the college has exceeded the management quota admissible to the institution under rules/regulations governing the subject and, if so, to what extent. The Committee will also fix responsibility for violation of any norms in the matter of admission by the college and make appropriate recommendations for action deemed feasible under law/rules/regulations. The Committee has been framed as the government has received reports that SSM College of Engineering, Pattan has allegedly violated norms during 2008-09 in making admissions to different professional engineering courses and has also admitted candidates under management quota beyond the limit authorised under rules.
