| Cover roads before rains, NBCC told | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JUNE 2 - The Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Arvinder Singh Micky on Tuesday asked NBCC authorities to restore the digged up road stretches well before onset of rainy season. The Deputy Chairman was reviewing the pace of work of lying of sewerage pipes at various construction sites being executed by National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) here today. The NBCC, a government of India Enterprise has been entrusted with the job of up gradation of Sewerage lines under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM) in the twin capitals of Jammu and Srinagar. Representatives from UEED, NBCC and other concerned departments attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Mr Micky stressed for early completion of the work considering the ensuing rainy season. He said the digged up roads at various places are creating great inconvenience to the public and delay in the levelling of digged up roads would further aggravate the situation during the nearing wet season. The Deputy Chairman also offered every type of help to the executing agency with regard to maintaining coordination among various government departments connected with the restoration of roads. Mr Micky also referred to the brewing resentment among the public over inadvertent delay in the completion of work and asked the executing agency to work day and night to complete the work. Later, the Deputy Chairman visited various construction sites to take on the spot stock of the ongoing works.
