| PDP gives call for Shopian march today | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, June 02- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called its cadres to march to Shopian on Wednesday to show solidarity with the family of the two women who were mercilessly raped and murdered there. The march will start at 11:00 AM from Party headquarters at Sher-i- Kashmir Park and will be led by Party President Ms Mehbooba Mufti. All the top leaders and legislators of the party and other workers will join the march which will mark the beginning of party’s campaign for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and reduction of troops. Party President Mehbooba Mufti accompanied by Moulana Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and other legislators and prominent workers had started off for Shopian today from Lal Chowk, but they were intercepted by police arrested and lodged in Kothibagh Police station. The leaders who include all the legislators of the party and other prominent workers were in custody till late evening. Meanwhile, PDP workers held demonstrations at different places in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipore and Pulwama Districts. The police used excessive force to disperse them and prevented them from joining party leaders in Srinagar. The Party has called upon all the workers and general public to join the match to Shopian and make their contribution in scraping the black laws that have denied fundamental rights to the people of the state.
